TE materials are used in an important class of ‘clean’ and ‘free-fuel’ energy conversion and harvesting devices. The major output of this project, namely, design and fabrication of novel TE materials with high ZT will directly lead to a new generation of TE devices of high efficiency for direct heat to electrical energy inter-conversion, including refrigeration, power generation and waste-heat recovery (Rowe 1995; Mahan 1996; Mahan 1997; Rowe 2005). |

Quantum dots are commonly used in biological applications due their high stability and longer lifetimes as compared to the organic dyes used for similar purposes. |
|
Magnetic nanostructures are widely investigated for their extraordinary properties when their dimensionalities is reduced to the size range comparable to the scale of physical phenomena. |
